Keeping Track of the Emergency Services During a Hurricaine

If you're curious as to what is going on as Irene approaches the East Coast, you might want to take a look at RadioReference.com

This site allows you select, by zip, city, state, etc and then listen in on transmissions by Fire, Police, EMS, etc.

The idea is that it is the Internet equivalent of listening to a police scanner. You can hear the transmissions and follow along to learn of problems with weather, crime, traffic, and the like. If you are interested in how things are in the areas affected by the hurricane, this will probably give you a much better indication than watching the news networks.
