As most of you know, I am a firm believer in 3D cone beam imaging for dentistry. So much so in fact that I have a Gendex CB-500HD unit in my office. I take 3D scans of patients whenever I feel that it is necessary to help me diagnose or treatment plan to get the best results possible. In fact, my next article in Dental Products Report I'll be discussing why I now feel 3D is a mainstream technology.
However, you can probably tell by the title of this post... and the pic above, that this isn't about dentistry. Nope, this is about cocaine... as in smuggling cocaine.
The scan that you can see above shows multiple packages (the capsules in darker red) that are filled with cocaine. There are 72 of them inside the digestive tract.
This is just one more way 3D is being deployed. Needless to say, this type of smuggling is risky. If one of those capsules ruptures, it's a quick rush and then... well a very long dirt nap.
